There were certain places at Whiterock Conservancy that became part of my daily routine, and this stretch of river was one of them. I walked past it countless times during my residency. Before long, I found myself slowing down each time I approached, drawn in by the sound of the flowing water, the birds calling from the trees, and the grasses moving in the breeze.
As I painted this scene, I wanted to capture more than just the view. The bold colors reflect the feeling of returning to a place that had become familiar, a place that invited me to pause, look up, and appreciate the quiet beauty that surrounded me. Some landscapes don't ask for your attention all at once. They become meaningful because you experience them again and again.
