Tallgrass Glow

Overlooking one of the fishing ponds, the tall grasses along the water caught the light beautifully, but what I remember most is how peaceful it felt. Dragonflies darted through the air, frogs called from the water, and the gentle movement of the grasses made it easy to lose track of time.
As I painted this scene, I wanted to capture that sense of calm more than the exact landscape. The bold colors reflect the warmth and energy I felt while sitting beside the pond, surrounded by the sounds of summer. It was one of those places that invited me to slow down, look a little longer, and appreciate the quiet rhythm of nature.
Beyond Green is a series inspired by my artist residency at Whiterock Conservancy, where I explored the Iowa landscape through unexpected color.
